Dr. Thornsberry is a Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon Fellowship Trained in Sports Medicine. His special interests are athletic injuries, ACL reconstruction, arthroscopy of the shoulder and knee, fracture care, total joint reconstruction (knee, hip and shoulder) and resurfacing of the knee. He was the first orthopaedic surgeon in Central Georgia certified to perform a Robotic Arm Assisted Knee Surgery (MAKO) for resurfacing of the knee .
Dr. Thornsberry is a Hughston Foundation Sports Medicine Fellow and has authored multiple book chapters and medical journal articles on knee and hip surgery as well as orthopaedic trauma surgery.
Dr. Thornsberry enjoys spending time with family, golf, weight training, biking, fishing, team sports, and acts as team physician for Stratford Academy, Georgia Military College, Georgia College and State University, and the Macon Mayhem Professional Hockey Club. In the past, he has acted as team physician at the University of Kentucky, Kentucky State University, and Valdosta State University.
