He is one of five Fellowship Trained hand specialists at OrthoGeorgia, and we are the only facility in Central GA to provide care from physicians with this distinction.

The specialty of Hand Surgery incorporates expertise derived from many surgical disciplines including Orthopaedics, General, Plastics, Vascular and Neurosurgery – all employed to manage conditions affecting the Hand. Dr. Blackwell’s clinical practice encompasses both acute and chronic conditions, arising from injury or aging, with an anatomic focus spanning from elbow to finger-tips. Although 50% of his clinical practice involves Hand Injuries (i.e., fractures and/or soft-tissue damage to skin, muscle, tendons, arteries or nerves), Dr. Blackwell routinely treats acquired conditions of the Hand, Wrist and/or Forearm which stem from tendonitis, arthritis, nerve compression syndromes, infections, vascular disease or tumors. Dr. Blackwell treats patients of all ages. Hand conditions arising from work are also managed.

Dr. Blackwell is Board Certified in Orthopaedics (ABOS) and holds subspecialty certification in Surgery of the Hand (CAQ). Professional membership and associations include the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery, American Society for Surgery of the Hand, Medical Association of Georgia, Georgia Orthopaedic Society, and Bibb County Medical Society. He is married with three children and enjoys spending time with family, creative design, building projects, automobiles and music.
