Hand & Upper Extremity Rehab

OrthoGeorgia Hand and Upper Extremity departments comprises Occupational and/or Certified Hand Therapists who have acquired special knowledge and understanding of problems affecting the hand, wrist, elbow or shoulder.  Through close collaboration with a physician, patient, and family, the therapist develops an individualized treatment program to restore physical components such as range of motion, strength, sensation, coordination, and function in daily tasks.  As the therapist teams together with you, the patient, we commit to excellence, compassion, education, and professionalism in our service delivery.  We want to help you achieve your functional goals and experience success in your rehabilitation process.

Who Needs Hand and Upper Extremity Services?
Commonly treated diagnoses of the Upper Extremity include fractures of the hand, wrist and elbow, tendon and nerve injuries, amputations, traumatic injuries, wounds, and cumulative trauma or pain syndromes.  The Upper Extremity team is actively involved in our Shoulder Rehabilitation program to restore function to those patients with diagnoses such as adhesive capsulitis, rotator cuff injuries, impingement syndrome, fractures, and instabilities.  If you have experienced problems in upper extremity function, you may be referred to our services by the physician to help you regain your mobility and use of the upper extremity.

Custom Bracing & Orthotics:  Molded and Fit Just for You
A specialized component of our Hand and Upper Extremity program is custom orthotic fabrication.  Our therapist's fabricate orthosis for you to support healing structures or to assist function utilizing the latest technology and materials.  Appropriate angles, line of pull, and tension make our orthoses comfortable and effective.
