Don C. Beringer, M.D. began his career as a physical therapist after graduating from Marquette University. His passion for providing expert care of patients with a wide range of musculoskeletal problems led him into a career in orthopaedic surgery.
Dr. Beringer graduated Magna Cum Laude at The University of Cincinnati School of Medicine, and was admitted to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. He completed his Orthopaedic Surgery training at a leading Orthopaedic Surgery Specialty Hospital, Summa Health Systems, in northeast Ohio, before completing a musculoskeletal oncology and limb salvage fellowship at the University of Florida. He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.
He is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at Mercer University School of Medicine and is Associate Editor, North America, for Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research, a leading international orthopaedic publication. As the Chairman, Department of Surgery, at The Medical Center of Central Georgia, he also leads the Operating Room Quality Committee, the hospital’s Joint Replacement Service Line, and serves on the hospital’s Medical Executive Committee.
Throughout his residency and beyond, he has been active in research and education. His research interests include computer assisted joint replacement surgery, the prevention of post-surgical deep vein thrombosis, and cost-effectiveness in healthcare. He has presented at national meetings on topics related to hip and knee replacement and has authored several publications addressing new technology in the area of hip and knee surgery.
Dr. Beringer and his team believe that outstanding results flow from a focus on patient safety and process improvement. He has a passion for delivering the most effective therapeutic and surgical interventions, and ensuring a satisfactory experience for his patients and their families.
Dr. Beringer is an active member of: The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, The American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, The Georgia Orthopaedic Society, The Medical Association of Georgia, The Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society.
