Dr. Floyd III received his medical degree from Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, with further training in surgery at The Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, Maryland. He completed a four-year residency in orthopaedic surgery at Harvard Medical School where he was Chief Orthopaedic Resident at the Massachusetts General Hospital.
After completing a fellowship in hand surgery at Roosevelt Hospital in New York City, Dr. Floyd III joined The Macon Orthopaedic and Hand Center in 1987.

Dr. Floyd specializes in surgery of the hand and the upper limb. He is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and holds a Certificate of Added Qualifications in Surgery of the Hand.
 
Dr. Floyd is a member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and the American Orthopaedic Association. 
 
Dr. Floyd is the Chief of Surgery at the Medical Center of Central Georgia. 
 
Dr. Floyd has been President of the Georgia Society for Surgery of the Hand and the Georgia Orthopaedic Society 
 
Dr. Floyd has published numerous articles and book chapters dealing with hand and orthopaedic surgery.
 
Dr. Floyd is married and has one son and three daughters.
