Dr. Thornsberry earned his undergraduate degree from Davidson College where he was a three-year letterman and captain of the football team. He received his M.D. (medical degree) from The Medical College of Georgia. He then received his training in orthopaedic surgery at The University of Kentucky. Dr. Thornsberry spent a year at the Shriner’s Hospital for Crippled Children in Lexington, KY. Following his training he spent a year at the Hughston Orthopaedic Clinic performing a fellowship in sports medicine.
Dr. Thornsberry is a general orthopaedic surgeon. His particular interests include shoulder, knee, sports medicine, arthroscopy and total joint arthroplasty.

Dr. Thornsberry is board certified through the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery, the Medical Association of Georgia, the Bibb County Medical Society, the Southern Orthopaedic Association, the Brower Orthopaedic Society and the Hughston Society. He has authored papers on knee surgery, hip surgery and orthopaedic trauma surgery.

Dr. Thornsberry is married and has two daughters. He enjoys golf, weight training, biking and fishing. He enjoys team sports and acts as the physician for Stratford Academy in Macon, Georgia. In the past, he has acted as team physician at the University of Kentucky, Kentucky State University and Valdosta State University.
