ORTHOGEORGIA POOL THERAPY

The aqua therapy program at OrthoGeorgia allows us greater flexibility in treating our patients.  Our pool consists of an 8' x 5' treadmill with side support rails that is controlled by a remote and can be raised completely out of the water to allow patient easy access and exit. Our underwater treadmill allows patients who cannot bear much weight early in their rehab program the ability to work on gait training and early functional exercises. The treadmill can be lowered to a depth of up to 6 feet and the water temperature is kept at 92 degree for patient comfort.

The treadmill varies in speed from .1 to 8.5 mph.  This wide range of speed allows us the freedom to accommodate someone who is having simple gait problems to the athlete that needs a more aggressive regimen.  Two cameras under the water with monitors give the patients a bi-directional look from eye level to assist them with a visual understanding of how to correct various gait disturbances.  Our underwater treadmill has a variety of indications including the ankle, knee, hip, back conditions surgical or non-surgical, and all upper extremity ranges of motion and strength deficits.

We have used the pool with patients that have had a total knee, spinal fusion, amputation or ACL reconstruction.  OrthoGeorgia's water therapy program is a one on one rehabilitation / workout with a certified rehab professional and is included in patient rehab protocols ranging in age from 15 years to 80.  The aqua therapy program at OrthoGeorgia is an excellent asset to our rehab department and can assist you with your injury.
