John W. Sapp, M.D.

Copy_of_Dr_John_W._SappDr. Sapp is a 1985 graduate of the Medical College of Georgia where he received his medical degree. He then entered a general surgery residency at The Medical Center of Central Georgia as a preliminary to plastic surgery training. At Louisiana State University in New Orleans, he completed a plastic surgery residency with an emphasis in microsurgery. Dr. Sapp spent an additional year at the University of Florida as a fellow in hand and microsurgery prior to joining the practice in 1992.

 

He has a special interest in microsurgery – the transfer of tissue from one area of the body to another and replantation following amputations, as well as arthroscopy of the wrist.

Dr. Sapp is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and holds a Certificate of Added Qualifications in Surgery of the Hand. He maintains memberships in professional organizations which include the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, American Society of Plastic Surgeons, American Medical Association, Medical Association of Georgia and the Bibb County Medical Society. He is on the faculty of Mercer University School of Medicine as Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery.

Dr. Sapp has authored several manuscripts on problems of the upper extremity. He has presented these topics at both state and national meetings.

Dr. Sapp is married and has two sons and a daughter. He enjoys travel, SCUBA diving and photography.
