Dr. Johnson, a native Maconite, earned his undergraduate degree at Emory University and his medical degree at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta. He received training in orthopaedic surgery at Georgia Baptist Hospital and the Scottish Rite Children’s Hospital in Atlanta. He joined the United States Air Force in 1972, serving as the Chief of Orthopaedic Surgery at Shaw Air Force Base in Sumter, South Carolina. He returned to Macon and joined the practice in 1974.
Dr. Johnson is a general orthopaedic surgeon. He is particularly interested in foot and ankle disorders, arthroscopy and joint replacement. He is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and is a Fellow in the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He is Past-President of the Bibb County Medical Society, Past-President of the Michael Hoke Society, and Past-President of the Georgia Orthopaedic Society. Dr. Johnson is also a member of the Southern Orthopaedic Society, the Medical Association of Georgia, and the American Medical Association. He continues to serve on the Board of the Medical Center of Central Georgia and serves as a Clinical Professor at Mercer University School of Medicine.
Dr. Johnson is married and has three daughters and five grandchildren. He enjoys golf, travel and singing in the choir at Christ Episcopal Church.
